An electrical thermal imaging survey is a non-evasive and non-destructive procedure using infrared technology. The cameras are designed to perform a wide range of tasks including electrical inspections, detecting thermal patterns and identifying areas of heat loss. Here at ETR, we offer thermal imaging surveys for another in the UK or Ireland. Keep reading for what it is, how it works and the benefits.

What are thermal imaging cameras?

Did you know that thermal radiation was discovered by Sir William Herschel in 1800? His son Sir John Herschel went on to develop the revolutionary first thermal camera using carbon suspension in alcohol. Today, thermal imaging cameras are thermographic cameras that are used to render infrared radiation as visible light, allowing you to find differences in wave speeds and temperature. They can detect faults such as loose connections, overloaded circuits and transformer cooling faults and induced currents.

How do thermal imaging surveys work?

Thermal imaging surveys are quick and easy methods to detect and rectify issues with electrical and mechanical equipment or moisture leaks and insulation deficiencies in your home or business. For example, thermal imaging of a wall could show dark spots, which are colder areas and indicate heat being transmitted outside.

Benefits of Thermal Imaging Surveys

  1. With thermal imaging surveys, issues with poor connections can be identified. Often these would be missed by electrical testing and inspection.
  2. There is no disruption to your business when you choose to have a thermal imaging survey carried out. Our team here at ETR will have it done quickly and safely.
  3. The surveys give excellent insight into the operational effectiveness of equipment. This will enable the identification of opportunities to make energy savings and increase the operational life cycle of equipment.
  4. You will notice a reduction in the cost of breakdowns, as a thermal imaging survey will identify faults before a breakdown happens. It is cheaper to pay for repairs rather than breakdowns!

Thermal imaging surveys are highly recommended and a commendable investment for any property owner to make. The implications of the results, in terms of finance, environmental integrity and safety, can be life changing! If you are keen to organise a thermal imaging survey, get in touch with us today. We will be happy to help.

We are living in an increasingly electronic world. Protecting the world that we live in is at the forefront of a lot of our minds, and so electrical vehicles (EV) have had a real surge in popularity. Did you know that here at ETR Electrical we install EV Chargers for a great price and in a reliable, trustworthy way? Keep reading to hear what electric vehicles are and why we love them.

What are electric vehicles?

An electric vehicle may be powered through a collector system by electricity from off-vehicle sources, or may be self-contained with a battery, solar panels, fuel cells or an electric generator to convert fuel to electricity. They first came into being in the 19th century but have only become more advanced and popular since the late 2000’s.

Why do we love them?

Electrical vehicles are becoming less expensive and there are a wide variety of benefits for drivers making the switch. From environmental benefits to financial positives, these vehicles have it all.

Reasonable price

There is an electric vehicle for every budget. Like its petrol and diesel run counterparts, the price depends on the make and model of the vehicle. In the long run, they prove to be a brilliant investment and a better way to get around.

Cheap to maintain

Throughout the entire life of your electric vehicle, you will spend far less than you do on your current car. There are tax incentives and special government grants, as well as enhanced fuel efficiency and a lower cost of electricity and maintenance. Sound good?

Environmentally friendly

Electric vehicles have zero tailpipe emissions making them greener, cleaner and better for the environment than any other cars. Less emissions mean reduced greenhouse gasses, and so we can begin to move towards greener and more renewable sources of energy.

Home charging

Did you know that you can have a compact, all-weather home charging unit installed outside your home and you’ll be eligible for a £350 government grant to cover installation. This is called the OLEV Grant and we work alongside it.

Electric vehicles are not only environmentally friendly, they’re friendly to your bank account too! Here at ETR, we are proud to offer an electric vehicle charger installation service to keep your process as simple and easy as possible. Interested in chatting? Contact us today.
